I’m a proud wife, mother to three amazing young adults, public school volunteer of 18 years, nonprofit co-founder and environmentalist. I’m the daughter of a civil rights activist and pastor, and a preschool teacher mom. I ran six years ago and defeated a longtime incumbent. It is my honor and privilege to serve. Proud of my proven track record of delivering for DeKalb families. I am the education, environmental, housing, and public safety/gun safety champion in this race.

Currently, I'm a state representative. I am a former nonprofit co-founder and health care software professional.

Is this your first time running for office?
No
What experiences have best prepared you to hold elected office?
Previously serving as a state representative, serving as a chief of staff/legislative assistant to another lawmaker, and my real life corporate experience and experience as a nonprofit co-founder and DeKalb public school volunteer.
What would be your top priority upon winning office?
Increasing funding for school psychologists, counselors. Decreasing gun violence in DeKalb and increasing affordable housing units in DeKalb.
What actions would you take to enhance government transparency and trust in government?
I would continue doing what I’m doing now, which is answering all of my own emails and phone calls, and hold approximately one open town hall or meet-and-greet per month. (I’ve already held more than 50 since being elected six years ago) Plus, I send out monthly legislative updates to anyone interested. I’m also active on all social media platforms to increase accessibility. I also attend or send an aide to attend local community/neighborhood association meetings.
Do you believe Georgia elections are secure and what additional security measures can be taken?
Yes. Current security is adequate.
What is government's responsibility to ensure affordable housing?
We have a moral responsibility to help provide adequate affordable housing for our population.
Do you believe public access to public records is sufficient in your jurisdiction and, if not, what steps do you support to remedy that?
No. The responses take took long. We should increase staffing to handle freedom of information requests where necessary.
