What experiences have best prepared you to hold elected office?
As a paralegal and now case manager at Morgan & Morgan, I bring a unique blend of qualifications and experiences that make me exceptionally well-suited to represent you effectively in politics. With a keen analytical mind developed through legal work, I can dissect complex issues, propose practical solutions, and advocate for our community's needs. My strong communication skills enable me to convey concerns and engage with constituents effectively. Additionally, my problem-solving abilities and commitment to empathy ensure innovative solutions and accountability.
What would be your top priority upon winning office?
My focus would be on boosting economic development by supporting small businesses and offering job training programs. Education would get a boost with increased funding, better teacher support, and modern technology in schools. Health care would become more accessible with expanded coverage and preventive care options. Affordable housing initiatives would include subsidies and zoning reforms. Environmental sustainability efforts would promote renewable energy and conservation. Additionally, I'd prioritize women's reproductive freedom, ensuring access to comprehensive reproductive health care and rights.
What actions would you take to enhance government transparency and trust in government?
To enhance government transparency and trust, I prioritize several actions. Firstly, I'd advocate for robust open data policies, making government information accessible to the public. Secondly, I'd support regular town hall meetings and public forums to foster direct communication between officials and constituents. Additionally, I'd push for comprehensive ethics reforms to increase accountability and integrity in government practices. Lastly, I'd promote whistleblower protections to encourage reporting of misconduct, ensuring transparency and accountability at all levels of governance.
Do you believe Georgia elections are secure and what additional security measures can be taken?
Based on data from the past two election cycles, Georgia has seen both successes and challenges in securing its elections. High voter turnout indicates confidence, but instances of cybersecurity threats highlight vulnerabilities. While measures like voter ID laws and updated voting machines have been implemented, additional security measures such as paper ballot backups, increased cybersecurity training, and bipartisan oversight could further enhance election integrity and reassure voters of the fairness and security of the process.
What is government's responsibility to ensure affordable housing?
Although the U.S. Constitution does not explicitly outline the government's responsibility, I strongly advocate it is the government's responsibility to ensure affordable housing. The constitution underscores the importance of promoting all citizens' general welfare, including access to decent and affordable housing. By implementing policies such as subsidies, rent controls, and urban planning regulations, the government can fulfill its constitutional duty to ensure that everyone can secure safe and affordable housing, fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.
Do you believe public access to public records is sufficient in your jurisdiction and, if not, what steps do you support to remedy that?
Enhancing public access to public records in Georgia State Senate District 21 is imperative. While avenues exist, the process isn't always transparent or user-friendly. I support simplifying record requests, updating online platforms, and expediting responses. Moreover, educating government staff on public records laws and empowering citizens to access information are crucial for transparency and accountability. These measures will foster greater trust and engagement within the community, ensuring government openness and responsiveness to citizens' needs
