Summary

Originally from Brooklyn, N.Y., Myrick, 52, first moved to Raleigh in 1990 to attend Shaw University. He worked for the Wake County Public School System and Dorothea Dix Mental Health Center as a special education teacher for several years before moving away to pursue a career as a radio producer. Since returning to the City of Oaks, Myrick has become an affordable housing advocate and spoken out against what he considers “excessive” and unaffordable housing development authorized by the city. He supports keeping GoRaleigh bus fares free and protecting the city’s trees and green spaces from redevelopment.
