Beverly has a bachelor's degree in computer information systems from Alabama State University. She was vice-char of the Planning and Zoning Board for the City of Clarkston. She has a daughter, and she attends Episcopal Church of the Epiphany.

Beverly is the Director of Community Engagement at the Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority.

Beverly H. Burks is currently mayor of Clarkston. She was elected in 2019 and has served one term. She is the first African American and the first woman elected as mayor of Clarkston. She was previously a member of the Clarkston city council.
