Lynn earned bachelor’s degrees in government and journalism from the University of Texas. She holds a master’s degree in city planning from Georgia Tech. She also holds a graduate certificate in gerontology from Georgia State University.

She has been married to her husband, Barry, for 35 years. They raised their 3 adult children in Dunwoody.

Lynn served on the Dunwoody Planning Commission and boards of her neighborhood Women’s Club. Lynn was Council Chair at Chesnut School and served in a variety of leadership roles at Chesnut, Dunwoody Elementary, Peachtree and Dunwoody High School.  She also served as the Vice-Chair of the Citizen Planning Task Force for DeKalb County Schools.
