- The commonwealth’s attorney is responsible for prosecuting all criminal cases in the county.
- The office of the commonwealth’s attorney deals with drug crimes, domestic violence, gun crimes, and DUIs. It also educates students to prevent young people from committing crimes and seniors to prevent them being victims of scams.
- Most commonwealth’s attorneys in Virginia are elected in odd years every four years. Elections are partisan.
