Believes "When test scores become the primary measure of achievement, schools tend to “teach to the test” and focus on only what will be covered on the assessments. This does not provide a well-rounded, enriching educational experience for students."

Believes "An over-emphasis on test scores can discourage teachers and schools from trying new, more effective instructional methods. However, I do believe standardized assessments have an important, limited role to play. "

Said one of his approaches is "transparency and Accountability: I will advocate for detailed, publicly accessible budget reports that break down revenue sources and spending allocations and regular updates with parents, teachers, and community stakeholders will keep the Board accountable."

Said one of his approaches is "Strategic Resource Allocation — I will work with district leadership to conduct a thorough needs assessment, examining areas like classroom resources, facilities, technology, and staff support; Funding can then be allocated to provide equitable access to high-quality educational programs across all schools; and careful long-term planning for capital projects, staff compensation, and other major expenses will help the district avoid financial pitfalls."

Said "Now, I want to be that voice for all students, citizens, and staff in District 5. By empowering our youth through quality public education, we can unlock their full potential and strengthen our communities for generations to come."

Said "I will continue to visit all the schools in the district as I have for the past 4 years and directly engage with teachers and support staff, ensuring they feel seen, heard, and valued for their vital contributions. I will work closely with my fellow board members to identify the schools with the highest retention rates, study their successful strategies, and develop district-wide policies to replicate those best practices."
