Farooq grew up in Gwinnett County, Georgia, after his parents moved to the United States from Pakistan in 1995. He has been a resident of House District 105, encompassing Buford, Dacula, and Lawrenceville, for 17 years. Farooq attended Mercer University in Macon, where he graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. He is a husband and father.

Farooq is the owner of MS Global Partners, a government and business advising firm. He previously worked at King & Spalding LLP and served as a Legal Aide to the Chief Assistant Solicitor General of Gwinnett County. Farooq also held the position of Chairman of the Gwinnett County Community Outreach Board.

Georgia State Representative Farooq Mughal represents Georgia’s 105th District. He was elected to this position in 2022, and has served one term in this role. Sandy Donatucci graduated Peters Township High School in Franklin County, Pennsylvania in 1983. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing from Indiana University in Pennsylvania in 1987. She has lived in Gwinnett County for 23 years and is married to her husband Bill, with whom she has two sons and one daughter.
