2024 Georgia General Election Runoff

Elisa Zarate has lived in Athens, Georgia for the past 19 years. She holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia and still resides in Athens today with her husband Zack and their son. She is on the board of several legal and community organizations including the Council of Superior Court Clerks of Georgia, Georgia Council of Court Administrators, and the Safety and Justice Committee amongst others. 

Elisa Zarate has worked in public service for the Athens-Clarke County judicial system for 10 years. She was appointed interim of the Clerk of Court following Beverly Logans retirement.

Plans to enhance court record management by digitizing Clarke County's land records, adhering to state standards, and improving public access, accuracy, and data integration for efficiency and transparency in the Clerk's Office operations.

Plans to provide digital access to county land records and index according to state standards in an effort to increase accuracy and efficiency for the Clerk's Office, enhance court record management, inturn providing easier internet access to them. 

Plans to prioritize public service in her role as Clerk of Court, ensuring respectful, courteous treatment and high-quality customer service for all interacting with court services, from jury duty to case inquiries.

Elisa Zarate

The Superior Court Clerk is the official record keeper and legal administrator of the county, as they are responsible for receiving and maintaining criminal and civil court filings. They also manage the county’s land and property records. Their duties are numerous and include administrative tasks, like accounting and administering oaths, and judicial, like maintaining legal records. They can also potentially fill in for other roles, such as State Court Clerk and Passport Acceptance Agents.
