Kathy attended Dade County High School, Edmondson Jr. College, Northwestern Technological Institute, and obtained her Certified Superior Court Clerk's Degree from the University of Georgia. She is married, and has three children.

Kathy began her career as deputy clerk at the Superior Court Clerk's office, and later became the Chief Deputy.
