Born in Indiana, Randa moved to South Georgia with her family in 1986. She graduated from Pelham High School and completed the Micro Computer Specialist Program at Thomas County Technical Institute (now Southern Regional Technical College). She lives in Thomasville with her husband and their three children. Randa is actively involved in the Thomas County Kiwanis Club and other charitable organizations, contributing to community betterment.

Randa started working with the Clerk of Thomas County Superior Courts office in 1999, serving under Clerk David Hutchings, Jr., eventually becoming Chief Deputy Clerk.

Randa D. Wharton served as Chief Deputy Clerk to the Clerk of Thomas County Superior Courts office before being elected as Clerk in 2016.

The Superior Court Clerk is the official record keeper and legal administrator of the county, as they are responsible for receiving and maintaining criminal and civil court filings. They also manage the county’s land and property records. Their duties are numerous and include administrative tasks, like accounting and administering oaths, and judicial, like maintaining legal records. They can also potentially fill in for other roles, such as State Court Clerk and Passport Acceptance Agents.
