Bernie grew up in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky. He has 2 children and 3 grandchildren.

Bernie was a vice president and branch manager at Citizens Bank of Northern Kentucky. He was also captain and is currently treasurer for the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department. Bernie served in Vietnam in the US Air Force.
