Keturah is originally from Richmond. She earned a bachelor's degree in sports administration from the University of Louisville and a master’s degree in corrections and juvenile justice from Eastern Kentucky University. She lives in Louisville and is the guardian of her cousin's 2 children.

Keturah previously worked as a policy strategist for the American Civil Liberties Union of Kentucky and managed educational programs for kids in foster care and juvenile justice facilities.
