Anja has degrees in sociology and political science from Montana State University. She is the secretary of the Montana Democratic Party executive board. She was born and raised in Bozeman, Montana, where she currently works and rents.

Anja is an office manager at Sweet Chili Asian Bistro, starting as a server almost 6 years ago. Brain graduated from the University of Chicago, and holds a Master's in Tax Law from New York University, and a Master's in History from Montana State University. He is married to his wife, Betty. He served as a member of the city planning board and as Chairman of the Bozeman Park & Recreation Board.
