Pete lives in the Helena and East Helena Valley area of Montana. He graduated from Montana State University and later attended Gonzaga Law School. Pete has a wife, and 4 children. The family attends Saint John’s Lutheran Church.

Pete has served as a city attorney and command judge advocate in the Montana National Guard. He has previously worked for the Montana Department of Labor as an analyst in the Unemployment Insurance Division and taken criminal defense clients for the Helena Public Defender's office. He served as an Army Ranger and served in Afghanistan, where he received the Bronze Star Medal and Combat Infantryman’s Badge.
