Jon has a music degree from the University of Great Falls. He is married to Sharla Bitz and they have three children: Christine, Shon, and Melody. Together they farm land just outside of Big Sandy, Montana. Jon was born in Havre, Montana, and grew up in Chouteau County on his family's farm. 


Jon is a third-generation farmer. He taught music at F. E. Miley Elementary School before entering politics. He has served as a U.S. Senator since 2006.

Michael graduated from the Golf Coast Community College Officers Academy and the Montana Highway Patrol Academy. He has four kids.

Michael Hummert served in the United States Army for two years before joining the Navy, where he worked as a cook, a deep-sea hardhat salvage diver, and a marine mammal operator. He was also a diving instructor at a salvage diving school in Panama City Beach, Florida. Micahel started a home remodeling company in 1996.

Said, "There are few things as complicated as our financial system... Some parts work well while other parts are destructive to our society... If our politicians were not purchased and operated by the 1%, then the banks would not be bailed out."
