Ophelia is currently retired from a career in the public school system. She is a former Army lieutenant. As a part-time job, she is a farmer.

Ophelia Munn-Goins is currently a Bladen County Commissioner. She was elected in 2016 and is serving her second term. Prior, she was a member of the Bladen County Board of Education. She was elected in 2004 and served until 2016 for a total of 3 terms. During her tenure, she was the vice chairwoman and later chairwoman of the board.
