Rafael earned his bachelor's degree in anthropology from Southern Methodist University (SMU) and his law degree from Tulane University Law School. He lives in North Oak Cliff with his partner Rebecca and their 2 children. He worships with the Catholic Campus Community at SMU.

Rafael is the co-founder and managing director of Civitas Capital Group and an attorney at Haynes and Boone. He previously served on the Board of Trustees of the Dallas Independent School District and was appointed by President Obama to the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations.

Rafael Anchia is a State Representative for State House District 103. He was first elected in 2004 and is serving his 10th term. He served as District 7 Trustee for the Dallas Independent School District, first elected in 2001, and served until becoming a state representative in 2004.

- Your state representative can author, sponsor, and vote on bills that may become state laws. 
- There are 150 members of the Texas House of Representatives, each representing a single district. Representatives must be at least 21 years old and reside in the state for at least two years before their election.
