Bobby Jenkins is from Cuthbert, Georgia. He attended and graduated from Henderson High School in 1970. He has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics education from Albany State University, a master’s degree in mathematics education from Valdosta State University, and a specialist degree in educational administration and supervision from Valdosta State University. He is married to Naomi Slaughter Jenkins and has two children.

Bobby is currently the mayor of Cuthbert. He was elected in 2021 and is serving his first term. Before becoming mayor, Bobby served as the superintendent of Randolph County Schools for over 12 years. He was the first Black superintendent in the county's history. Bobby also served as a principal in the Tift County Schools for 10 years and taught high school mathematics for 8 years.

Plans to expand the capacity of Cuthbert's Chicken Rendering plant to retain local jobs.

Economy

As mayor, secured a $2 million grant to renovate Day Park, Iris Gardens, and the swimming pool.

Plans to renovate the Cuthbert pool and add a splash pad for younger kids with the help of a recreation grant.

Public Services

As mayor, tore down 40 dilapidated houses in Cuthbert and applied for a CHIP grant to renovate substandard housing.

Housing & Urban Development

Supports establishing a citizens' review committee to increase transparency in law enforcement.

Plans to reopen the city’s only hospital that shut down in the middle of the pandemic.

Plans to address the need to get more county residents fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

- The mayor leads the executive branch of local government, presiding over city council meetings, making sure city departments run smoothly, and providing services to citizens. 
- The mayor runs the city day to day and prepares the budget each year, meaning that they propose how much funding goes to each city department, including the police department, city parks, transportation, and the fire department. 
- The mayor also hires the Police Chief, Fire Chief, and city department heads, such as City Planning, Parks & Recreation, and Transportation. 
- Most Georgia mayors are elected in odd years to four year terms. Elections are nonpartisan.
