Laurie Sheldon has an associate and bachelor 
 
 s degrees from Davenport University. She has resided in Kentwood for more than 25 years and is an East Kentwood High School graduate.

Board of Directors

Laurie is the City Treasurer of Kentwood. She was elected to this position in 2013. Before that, she served as a City Commissioner for two years and a Planning Commissioner for seven years. Earlier in her career, she managed millage proposals and candidate campaigns through her business, Ballot Box Consulting. She chaired three millage proposals for the City of Kentwood, worked with the Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union to teach effective campaign strategies, and ran over 20 candidate and proposal campaigns over 17 years. Laurie began her municipal experience at the request of her mentor, Former Mayor Root, to join the Planning Commission. She discovered a passion for public service and sought to expand her experience in municipal government.

Laurie is currently the treasurer for the City of Kentwood. She was elected in 2013 and has served two terms. Prior to being elected, she served as a city commissioner for two years and a planning commissioner for seven years.
