Richard M. Steenland previously served as State Representative for Michigan's 22nd House District from January 2021 to December 2022. He also served as Roseville City Clerk from November 2007 to November 2020 and was a member of the Roseville City Council from November 1993 to November 2007. Steenland was Roseville Mayor Pro Tem from November 2005 to November 2007.
