David is currently a member of the Ahoskie Town Council. He was first elected in 2021 and is serving his second term. He is the chairman of the Hertford County Planning & Zoning Commission, the Hertford County Economic Development Board, the North Carolina League of Municipalities’ Legislative Policy Committee, and NLC’s Small Cities Council.

As mayor, supported the creation of a downtown social district to encourage economic development.

Supports working with the Hertford County Economic Development board of directors to attract new industries to the area.

Supports building relationships with community organizations to promote growth, safety, and youth activities.

Supports funding for the Fa\u00e7ade Grant Program, which provides grants for businesses along Main Street to make repairs and renovations.

As a town commissioner, lowered the late fee for water bills from $65 to $20 if paid before the 25th of each month.

Supports NCDOT's investment of $16.4 million in Ahoskie for a new roundabout and railroad bridge, including sidewalks.
