Collin earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and a master’s degree in education from Johns Hopkins University. He lives on the Upper East Side with his partner, Haro, and volunteers at Park Avenue United Methodist Church.

Collin currently works as an education consultant advising public school superintendents on education equity and strategic improvement. He previously worked as a teacher, dean, and principal in Harlem and the Bronx.
