Cannon is a senior vice president for investments at Davenport and Company in Farmville. He previously served as the radio voice of Hampden-Sydney College on WFLO, calling over 1000 games. He has also served on the county's planning committee.

Brett V. "Cannon" Watson is currently a member of the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors, District 7. He was appointed in July 2022 to fill the seat of Jim Wilck, who resigned. 

Believes the county needs "good clean industry that can offer a living wage and a career path."
