Robert Aderholt was born in Haleyville, Alabama, in 1965. He attended the University of North Alabama from 1983 to 1984, and graduated from Birmingham-Southern College in 1987 with bachelor's degrees in history and political science. He earned a J. D. from The Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1990. Aderholt and his wife, Caroline, reside in Haleyville. Their daughter, Mary Elliott, married Grant Whitt in March of 2025, and they now reside in Huntsville. Their son, Robert Hayes, attends Auburn University.
