Lucas Mark Gowen Sr. earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from Georgia Southern University. He volunteers with the Charlton County Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. He lives with his wife and their two children and attends Folkston United Methodist Church, where he serves on the board of trustees. 

Lucas currently serves as a member of the Charlton County, Georgia, Commission, representing District 5. He was first elected in 2014 and is serving his third term.
