Beth Sewell is originally from central Indiana. She attended Milligan College in Johnson City, Tennessee. She has a bachelor's degree  in education and psychology from Milligan College. She lives with her husband and their two children in the Wallace Woods neighborhood of Covington.

Beth previously served as executive director of the Covington Business Council, where she managed the organization's budget and advocated for business priorities in the city. She also previously served as executive director of Raybourn Group International, a nonprofit management firm in Indianapolis, Indiana.
