That means:
Results reporting that avoids unnecessary exposure to the internet (eliminating avoidable pathways)
Strong chain-of-custody standards and physical security for equipment and ballots
Routine validation and documentation so systems are demonstrably consistent and trustworthy (including integrity checks)

Priorities | Anthony G. Forlini

“We must find a way for the Driver’s License database to confirm citizenship. Many times there may be a language barrier, and applicants do not understand what they are signing.  If this is not addressed, we risk compromising our jury trials and our elections,” said Clerk Forlini.

“One possibility is to take advantage of new breakthroughs in linking several databases, where one database is able flag another database for actual citizenship verification.”

Macomb County Clerk Alarmed About Citizenship Affecting Jury Trials and Elections

As Secretary of State, Forlini will:

- Eliminate sending your voter information to third party groups
- Protect US citizens voting
- Utilize all public databases to remove those not eligible to vote
- Require watermarked ballots statewide
- Cut Secretary of State office wait times
- Improve election worker training
 - Improve transparency
- Audit county clerks to keep consistency across state

... and more

Anthony G. Forlini for Michigan Secretary of State

Proven Actions

Anthony Forlini has publicly highlighted the following actions taken under his leadership:
Added watermarks to tabulator paper ballots

Turned off modems used to transmit tabulator results through the internet (first county in the state, per the county bulletin)

Conducted a forensic audit of the election server, including integrity validation steps (per county bulletin)

Enabled tabulator ballot scanning to support easier FOIA requests

Trained 700+ election workers to improve competence and consistency
Removed hundreds of deceased voters (over age 100) from the voter rolls

Election integrity: consistent safeguards + trained people
Anthony believes integrity is achieved through standards and competence, not slogans:
Consistent procedures across jurisdictions
Training and support for election workers so elections are run confidently and correctly
Transparent processes that help answer honest questions and reduce confusion

Cleaning the voter rolls: accurate, lawful, and careful
Voter rolls must be accurate and maintained in a way that follows the law and protects eligible voters:
Regular cleanup for deceased voters and outdated records
Clear documentation and due process safeguards
Coordination with local clerks so maintenance is consistent statewide

Government should do less. Your rights are not negotiable. Christine believes the proper role of government is narrow and well-defined: protect individual rights, maintain essential public services, and enforce fair and consistent laws. When government overreaches — regulating personal choices, picking economic winners and losers, or expanding bureaucracy for its own sake — it undermines the freedom and self-determination that make communities thrive.

Issues - Vote Christine Sloan for Michigan Secretary of State

Opposes government policies that pick economic winners and losers or expand bureaucracy.

- Opposes government policies that pick economic winners and losers or expand bureaucracy.

As Secretary of State, Christine will focus on: • Maintaining clean and accurate voter rolls while complying with state and federal law. • Expanding transparency so voters can independently verify how elections are conducted. • Protecting the privacy of Michigan citizens by limiting unnecessary collection and sharing of personal information. • Modernizing services without creating new barriers, fees, or bureaucracy. • Ensuring every qualified voter can cast a ballot—and that every lawful ballot is counted.

Christine Sloan - Libertarian Party

• Treating all political parties and candidates fairly, including independent and minor-party candidates too often shut out by the political establishment. • Returning the office to its core mission of customer service, efficiency, and accountability. Michigan deserves a Secretary of State who sees government as a service provider, not a political platform. Christine Sloan will defend election integrity, protect individual liberty, and make government work for the people who pay for it.

You have a right to know how your money is spent. Transparency is not a luxury — it is a requirement of legitimate government. Christine will push for open records, public budget hearings, and plain-language reporting on how taxpayer dollars are used.

Christine will push for open records, public budget hearings, and plain-language reporting on how taxpayer dollars are used. She will oppose backroom deals and any process designed to limit public scrutiny of government action. Lansing should be an open book, not a closed club.

Christine believes that every Michigan resident has a fundamental right to privacy, and that government has no business building a surveillance infrastructure over the people it is supposed to serve. She will fight to restrict government use of mass surveillance technology, hold data collectors accountable, and ensure that no Michigander is treated as a suspect simply for going about their daily life.

On auto insurance reform

Borregard likes the idea of creating "a citizens oversight committee in the government," on auto insurance, he said. "I think a lot of the structure is there, but it's been corrupted, and it doesn't work for the people, it works for politicians and lobbyists who have turned the thing into a rat's nest."

This statement was published October 30, 2018, during Borregard's state Senate campaign. A targeted September 4, 2026 search for newer statements using the distinctive phrases “citizens oversight committee” and “corporate interests” returned no results, so no newer contradictory statement was found.

Gilchrist said that voting is “reserved for citizens” and that anyone who votes despite not being a citizen needs “to be held accountable for that to the fullest extent of the law.” He also noted that “vanishingly few noncitizens … actually cast ballots.”

“As a process person, I want to make sure that we get that number to zero. I also want to make sure that we are focusing on the right things, and that is again making sure we have a good process,” he said. “But frankly, I want to make sure that more eligible voters in Michigan are doing what they need to do so that they can cast ballots.”

“We’re going to continue to make sure that our processes can be safe and secure,” he said. “I want to make sure that we are focused on the right thing. People having confidence in the voting process means that more people will participate in the voting process.”

He pointed to his experience as a computer engineer as an example of making systems work for people.

"I believe that the Secretary of State's office is a critical position in our democracy, and I want to make sure that every Michigander has their voice heard in our elections," Gilchrist said.
