ABOUT ME, KEVIN

I was born in Asheville, North Carolina, where both of my parents were raised in a small community in Buncombe County. In 1980, my family moved to the Washington Park community of Winston-Salem before settling in Davie County, where I graduated from Davie High School. My interest in design and structure led me to Forsyth Technical Community College, where I earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Architectural Technology and Space Design.

Beyond my professional life, I am an artist at heart. I enjoy lampworking hot glass to create beads at the Sawtooth Center for Visual Arts. I also love gardening, traveling, and spending time with my partner, Guy, and our beloved Miniature Schnauzer, Mabel.

In September 2001, I joined the Forsyth County District Attorney’s Office as a Victim-Witness Legal Assistant. For more than two decades, I have dedicated my career to supporting victims, working alongside attorneys, judges, and court staff to ensure that every citizen receives fair and compassionate treatment. Over the past five years, I have served as an Administrative Assistant within the office, managing support staff and overseeing human resources operations. My leadership and commitment to teamwork have helped foster a professional, collaborative environment that benefits both staff and the public we serve.

There, I received extensive training and experience in both District and Superior Court proceedings, deepening my understanding of the court system and the vital importance of collaboration.

I began my career in public service with the State of North Carolina in 1997, serving as an Office Assistant for the Community Service Work Program under the Department of Crime Control and Public Safety. Surrounded by dedicated colleagues and mentors, I learned early on that hard work, integrity, and compassion for others are the foundations of meaningful public service.

Kevin currently works as an administrative assistant in the Forsyth County District Attorney’s Office. He previously worked as a victim-witness legal assistant in that office, as a deputy courtroom clerk in the Forsyth County Clerk of Superior Court’s Office, and as an office assistant for the State of North Carolina’s Community Service Work Program.

The Clerk of Superior Court is elected in each county through a partisan election for a four-year term. The Clerk has five main responsibilities:
- Probate Judge: Handles 46 types of actions, including managing estates, guardianship proceedings, and appointing personal representatives.
- Court Administrator: Oversees the administration of the court.
- Record Keeper: Files, processes, and maintains all cases and documents submitted to the court.
