Andrew Murray is currently the District Attorney for North Carolina’s 42nd Prosecutorial District, which includes Henderson, Transylvania, and Polk counties. He was appointed to the position in May 2021 and ran in the Republican primary on May 17, 2022, before appearing on the general election ballot on November 8, 2022. Previously, Murray served as the District Attorney of Mecklenburg County from 2011 until 2017 after being elected in 2010 and re-elected in 2014. He then served as the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina from November 27, 2017—following his nomination by President Donald Trump on September 11, 2017, and unanimous Senate confirmation on November 9, 2017—until February 2021.
