Quinn, a Democrat, was elected to the clerk of court post in the 2022 midterm election. “I have loved being the Wilson County clerk, so this will be a bittersweet transition,” Quinn said. “That said, I am ready to get to work learning this new position.”

For the last seven years, I have been hearing estate and special proceeding cases in the judicial role. I have been holding regular hearings for my entire time as clerk. I try to do almost all of our hearings.”

Legal Experience

Over the last few years, Quinn said she was worked closely with Edgecombe County Clerk of Court Carol A. White and Nash County Clerk of Court Linda Thorne. “We navigated our offices through the recent transition to an electronic court system together,” Quinn noted. “I am blown away by their hard work and dedication to serving their counties. I have learned a lot about public service from them and will count them as my lifelong friends.”

Judicial Administration

Quinn, who has served as an assistant district attorney in the 8th Prosecutorial District, said she hopes to build a reputation for fairness and being respectful. “I hope to be regarded as someone who makes everyone I encounter, from court personnel to those appearing before me, feel heard and respected,” she said. “The N.C. Judicial Branch Seal contains the Latin phrase ‘to render to every one his own.’ I’ve had that on a post-it note on my computer for several years to remind me to approach those that I encounter in my hearings as individuals, deserving of compassion and understanding. Justice is not only about applying the law, and I am here to serve.”

Quinn said she appreciates a judge who will use a litigant’s name. “I believe that a good judge is humble and fair,” she said. “I have had the opportunity to watch and appear before many outstanding judges during my 30-plus years. I have seen respect and compassion rendered alongside sound legal judgements in every courthouse in our district. I am so grateful for the long-standing integrity of our bench. I hope to continue that tradition and will certainly be emulating many traits of the district court judges who have served in the 8th District before me.”
