Sheriff Van Shaw - The North Carolina Innocence Inquiry Commission

Van Shaw earned his bachelor's degree in political science from Elon University and a master's degree in business administration from Pfeiffer University.

Van currently serves as the 38th sheriff of Cabarrus County. He was first elected to the position on November 6, 2018, and was re-elected in 2022.

Van has more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement, including 28 years with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI).
