Phil and his wife of more than three decades, Susan, have three grown children and live in North Richland Hills. Together they are active members of North Richland Hills Baptist Church.

Upon graduation from law school, Phil received a job offer from Tarrant County District Attorney Tim Curry. Phil accepted that offer and joined the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office where he worked as a prosecutor. Five years later, Phil ran for judge of County Criminal Court No. 10 against an incumbent.

Before becoming a judge, Phil served as an Assistant Criminal District Attorney, prosecuting felony offenses ranging from theft and robbery to murder. That experience gave him a firsthand understanding of the impact crime has on victims, families, and neighborhoods and reinforced his belief that the criminal justice system must protect law-abiding citizens while holding offenders accountable.

"Voting is a cornerstone of our democracy," he said. "This office will protect the ballot box from fraudsters who think our laws don't apply to them."
