Deanna Hammond was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. She graduated from Parkview Magnet School in 1984 and relocated to Texas that same year. Deanna holds a Bachelor of Science, with concentration in Management from DeVry University and a Master of Arts, with a dual concentration in Organizational Management and Conflict Resolution from Dallas Baptist University. She is currently in the dissertation stage of her PhD program in General Psychology with emphasis in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Grand Canyon University.

Deanna is a deputy constable with the Smith County Constable's Office. She previously worked as a deputy constable with the Tarrant County Constable's Office, where she served civil processes and warrants, investigated criminal law violations, and filed cases with the Justice Court and District Attorney. Before that, she served as a federal police officer with the Department of Veteran Affairs. Earlier in her career, she worked as a school counselor for Texans Can! Academies, a network of schools for at-risk youth. She also has experience as a substitute teacher with the Dallas Independent School District. Deanna began her career in accounting in Houston, Texas.
