Rusty is the mayor of Sandy Springs. He was first elected in 2013 and previously served on the city council from 2005 to 2009. Before taking office, he spent more than 40 years in public policy and administration, including roles at the federal, state, and local levels. He was confirmed unanimously by the U.S. Senate as Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Intergovernmental Relations in the first Bush Administration under Secretary Jack Kemp.
