Past president for 2 consecutive years for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Friends groups and was past chairman of the golf fundraiser for the hospital.

Sustainer member of the Junior League of Atlanta.

Volunteers for various charities and speaks to youths often on panels about career paths at Woodward Academy, Jackson Elementary, Utopian Academy of the Arts, and North Atlanta High School.

Judges high school mock trial competitions at the state level and also assists the fifth grade honors classes with a mock trial and preparation.

Judges shouldn't make people feel irritated and unwelcome; everyone should feel like they were heard and had their day in court

People who can't afford an attorney need to be treated with time and respect, not just kicked off the calendar and sent to another courtroom

In school, I represented a victim of domestic violence in court; attempting to get victim a temporary restraining order against her abuser/attacker

I was disturbed by the way the judge admonished my client, blaming her for the attack she survived

I decided, if I ever had the chance to become a judge, I would ensure that people, who appeared in my courtroom, would be treated professionally and with the utmost respect

In general, judge or not, being a good person will bring you success. Treat people with respect because they deserve it and so do you.

People deserve to be heard, have the judges undivided attention, and be treated with respect.

As a child, family members dealt with issues in court and were dealt the short end of the stick. Wanted to become a lawyer and judge to help others in the same situation.

Calls for more comprehensive pre-sentencing investigations, to understand the individual better

Make sure that mental health or substance abuse referrals can be made and judges can draw on this info when making a sentencing

If someone has been on probation 3 times already then they might not be qualified for an assistance program

A diverse judiciary allows for having individuals with have differing life perspectives to draw from them when considering a case, and allows those in the courtroom to feel seen and heard

Even if the judge does not rule in their favor, at least they know that the judge heard where they were coming from, and sometimes that is what matters the most
