D'Jaris was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina. She has a bachelor's degree in psychology with a concentration in special education from Johnson C. Smith University and a master's degree in employment and labor law from Tulane University. She lives in southwest Atlanta.

D'Jaris is a Human Resources professional specializing in talent acquisition. She founded Secrets of a Southern Belle & Gent, a college and career coaching program, and M.A.R.I.E Project, to support students who are "at risk" educationally.
