Raynard was born and raised in Atlanta. He attended Atlanta Public Schools, and he has a bachelor's degree in computer science from Boston College. He is a member of the Atlanta Public School (APS) Community Education Group and the Fulton County District Attorney's Anti-Gang Youth Violence Task Force. He also served on the APS School Turnaround Strategy Advisory Committee.

Raynard works as a Project Manager overseeing IT and New Age Digital Media projects.

Raynard Johnson ran for District 5 Representative for the Atlanta Board of Education in 2017. He advanced to the runoff but did not win.
