Karen has bachelor's degree from Eastern University. She has lived in Chamblee for almost 10 years. She lives with her husband, Jonathan. They have two teenaged daughters.

Karen is a professional choral singer and conductor. She runs a music & memory program for Alzheimer’s patients and patients other forms of dementia at A.G. Rhodes Health & Rehab Centers.

Karen Lupton was a Chamblee city councilmember for district 3. She was in office for two years.
