Ruwa has a bachelor's degree in politics from Oglethorpe University and a master's degree in public policy from Georgetown University.

Ruwa is a senior consultant at Deloitte. She used to work at Poligon Education Fund, CAIR-Georgia, Mercy Corps, Points of Light, the Asian American Advocacy Fund, the Georgia Muslim Voter Project, and the Center for Civil and Human Rights.

Ruwa Romman's campaign for state representative is her first entry into politics.
