Conolus was born and raised in Madison County. He graduated from Southside High School and Athens Technical College with a degree in business marketing. He lives in Danielsville with his wife. They attends C.M.E churches.

Conolus is now retired. He is a bailiff at the Madison County courthouse. He used to own Scott's Repair Service. He worked in plumbing with his father and owned a business selling and installing mobile homes for 14 years. He started his career as a laborer for Westinghouse, where he worked for 30 years, later as a supervisor and an area manager.

Conolus Scott Jr. previously ran for county commissioner for district 2 in Madison County but was not elected. He is currently chair of the Madison County Planning and Zoning board.
