Political background

David Scott is currently the US Representative representing Georgia's 13th Congressional District. He was elected in 2002 and has served 10 ten terms. He is the Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture. He is also a member of the House Committee on Financial Services. He served as a State Representative in the Georgia General Assembly from 1975 to 1982, and served as a State Senator from 1983 to 2002.

As a US Representative, he voted in favor of the Affordable Care Act which became law in 2010. He supports defending the Affordable Care Act's protections for people with pre-existing conditions.

Accused of multiple ethics violations. In 2007, Politico reported that Rep. David Scott made $643,000 in campaign payments to his family, his business, and its employees. David's lawyer claimed that the campaign followed all campaign finance laws and regulations.

In 2007, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics listed Representative Scott as one of the 25 most corrupt Members of Congress after finding his advertising business owed more than $150,000 in taxes.
