Darrius is originally from Hawkinsville, Georgia. He studied seminary and psychology at Carver Bible College and history and political science at Georgia State University and Morehouse College.

Darrius taught history to high school freshmen and worked in finance for seven years. He used to be a minister at Sanders Memorial Baptist Church.
