Detric is originally from Savannah. He has lived in the city his whole life. He is a graduate of Savannah High School. He has a degree in nursing from Savannah Tech. He lives with his wife, Lenaida Green-Leggett, and their five children. He is a member of the Holy Spirit Lutheran church.

Professional background

Detric is an operating room specialty technician at Memorial Health University Medical Center. He is also chairman of the Citizens Advisory Board at the Chatham County Jail. He used to be an orthopedic tech at Memorial Hospital, a nursing assistant at Memorial Hospital, a barber, and an employee at the former Gurley’s Supermarket.

Political background

Detric Leggett is currently the alderman representing district 2. He was first elected in 2019 and has been in office for one term. He ran for Savannah City Council and the County Commission of Chatham County in 2015, but did not win.
