Walter has a Bachelor's degree from the University of Virginia. He lives with his wife, Kristina, and their two children in Reston.

Walter is the vice president of Environmental Affairs and Industry Sustainability at Consumer Technology Association, where he has been for over 13 years. He previously worked at Alcorn Consulting and SAIC.
