Jonathon Hill was born in Kingman and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. He has lived, studied, and worked in Tempe since 2000. Jonathon earned degrees in Aerospace Engineering, Geological Sciences, and Russian from Arizona State University (ASU), where he also defended his PhD in Spring 2022.

Jonathon Hill has worked at the ASU Mars Space Flight Facility for 17 years, operating the camera on NASA's Mars Odyssey spacecraft and instruments on the Spirit and Opportunity Mars rovers. He has provided support to the University of Arizona's OSIRIS-REx asteroid sample return mission and NASA's Europa Clipper mission. His PhD research focused on studying Martian salt deposits.
