Alex received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Georgia Southern University. He is married with children and they attend Compassion Christian Church and Pembroke Christian Church.

Alex is a Construction and Infrastructure Inspector serving Richmond Hill, Guyton, Springfield, Effingham County, and Port Wentworth. He previously worked at the Downtown Development Authority for the City of Pembroke. He also taught at Bryan County High and was the Program Associate at the Bryan County 4-H office. He also worked as an employee at the University of Georgia.

Alex Floyd has served on Bryan County's Planning and Zoning Commission.
