Jim has lived in Jefferson and Jackson counties over the past 50 years. He graduated from the University of Georgia. He and his wife, Vernell, have two kids and four grandchildren.

Jim currently works as a licensed real estate broker and appraiser. He previously worked as a public school teacher, public school administrator, and college administrator at the University of Georgia.

Jim Hix currently serves as the Jackson County Commission member representing District 1.
