Carolyn is from Beaufort, South Carolina. She has a bachelors degree in education from Florida A&M, a master’s degree in administration from Albany State, a specialist in administration from the University of Georgia, and an educational doctorate degree from South Carolina State University. She and her husband Bobby live in Albany and have two adult children. 

Carolyn is retired, previously working as a human resources director for the  Dougherty County School System. She also worked there as an administrative assistant and social science teacher.
