Jerre earned an associate's degree in science from Darton College, bachelor's degrees in biology and business administration from Christopher Newport University, a master's degree in business administration from Barry University, and a master's degree in public administration from Troy State University. 

He is married to and has 3 sons. He lives in St. Marys and attends St. Marys Methodist Church. Jerre volunteers as the founder/director of the Historic St. Marys Fishing Classic and is a member of the Rotary Club, St. Marys Tree Board, Vietnam Veterans of America #1137, and American Legion #170.

Jerre previously worked as chief of contracting for the Southeast Region of the National Park Service, facilities manager at Everglades National Park, and superintendent of Cumberland Island National Seashore. He also served as a nuclear electrician in the U.S. Navy from 1971-1977.

Jerre Brumbelow's campaign for mayor of St. Marys is his second run for this office. He previously ran for mayor in 2020 but did not win.
